Star Citizen Alpha 3.17.0e PTU.8003511 Patch Notes

Alpha Patch 3.17.0e has been released to Evocati, and is now available to test! Patch should now show: VERSION 3.17.0-PTU.8003511.

It is strongly recommended that players delete their USER folder for the Public client after patching, particularly if you start encountering any odd character graphical issues or crash on loading. The USER folder can be found (in default installations) at C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\PTU.

Please log out then back in on the issue council site to see the Evocati environment there. Please make sure to only select the Evocati 3.15 environment when creating IC reports while the builds are Evocati only

Note: This patch does not contain all of the intended features, which will be added iteratively to the notes as they become available. Additionally, some features may be implemented in a partial state and as such are not ready for testing. When those features reach a playable state they will be detailed on the notes and added to the “Testing Focus”. Please issue council all issues related to those in testing focus and in general gameplay.

Known Issues

  • ASOP terminal displays successful retrieval with designated hangar number; however, there is no ship marker and designated hangar is empty
  • Cave interiors on planets with breathable atmospheres do not have an atmosphere which will cause the player to die from suffocation
  • AR Markers are present when opening the mobiGlas which can make it hard to read
  • The Filters in NikNax do not function
  • Players can get stuck inside geometry by sitting on and getting up from some boxes on refinery decks
  • Many mineable asteroids can’t be scanned
  • Ships can explode after players exit them
  • MFDs are difficult to interact with due to overriding Inner Thought prompts
  • Various repair areas don’t always spawn back all ship weapons after ship repair completes
  • Medpens and medical equipment have low LOD both in pharmacy kiosk and when being used

New Features


Ship and Ship Components Inventory Updates

Major overhaul of the ship personal inventory storage to allow for ship components to be stored and transported inside ships. Increased the capacity of Landing zone storage from 100 SCU to 1000 SCU. Added inventory size values to all purchasable ship items along with volume and dimensions which will require certain size ships to transport larger size components that wouldn’t normally fit inside the smaller ships. Updated all ships to have more internal storage to accommodate this change. Added inventory filters for components.

Feature Updates


Shield Face Balance Pass

Converted heavy fighter and larger ships with size 2 shields to have front-back shield faces instead of bubble shields

Death Animation Polish Pass

Replaced player death animations that were too long and gave the illusion that players were still standing when already downed. This only affects player death animations and not AI

Arena Commander Scoring Polish

Removed “Part Detached Score” award until we can find a better solution to players getting unintended score when destroying an enemy ship. Restored remaining score pool being distributed among attackers on death. Fixed scoring of some ships that were not setup.

Bug Fixes

  • Refueling services should no longer limit players to 3.88 SCU of fuel per transaction
  • When docking to a Starfarer, the player’s ship should no longer snap far below the refueling arm
  • Players should no longer click on background objects when using dropdown menus on shopping terminals
  • Shubin Interstellar kiosk in New Babbage should no longer use the old shop UI
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to immediately retrieve ships that are not stored at the current location
  • The ‘Quick Buy’ function should now work
  • After logging out in a ship bed and logging back in, the player should no longer spawn without a body and be unable to move
  • There should no longer be invisible collision blocking players from entering the Banu Defender
  • The landing gears of the Buccaneer, Phoenix, Aurora LX, and Xian Scout should no longer snap back after deploying
  • Loading into a Constellation into Arena Commander will no longer spawn the player into the docked Merlin
  • Mining gadget should no longer become indestructible after being placed on a minable object
  • Fixed an issue causing certain items such as the medpen to have incorrect LODs
  • Fixed an issue causing the medgun’s AR cards to display partially off-screen when the player has multiple injuries
