Alpha 3.14 Known Issues

Below are some of the issues and bugs that we are aware of within Star Citizen Alpha 3.14.x.  We are still actively working to address these issues fully and Issue Council reports on the problems are greatly appreciated.

RUNNING AND INSTALLED APPLICATION CONFLICTS

There are cases where certain specific programs may conflict with the RSI Launcher or game client and prevent it from running properly.  It is difficult to form a list, but if you are running into constant issues with consistently launching the game or persistent and pervasive game client crashes within the first five minutes of play, considering turning off other running programs and applications and trying again.

Though rare, simply having certain applications installed may also cause troubles, which is much harder to identify.

A recent such conflict our Tech Support Agents have identified is with Sonic Studio 3 / Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer which will need to be fully uninstalled for the RSI Launcher to properly function.

UNABLE TO PARTY LAUNCH WITH FRIENDS

There have been many instances of players being unable to join the Persistent Universe when in a party with other players.  The result of this issue is that some members of the party will end up on a seemingly infinite duration loading screen or have their game client crash entirely.  If you have experienced this, please add your information to this Issue Council report: STARC-11693

To workaround this problem if it pops up, have one member of your group join a server solo, and then have the rest of the players in your group individually join the same server via the friend’s list.

MOBIGLAS IS MISSING OR NON-FUNCTIONAL

We have received an increase of reports of this issue happening in Alpha patch 3.14. Entering character customization and changing your character’s gender, appearance, and eye color a few times may correct these issues.  After changing your appearance, enter the Public Universe. If not resolved please try customizing again.

If your issue continues, please do the following steps before you reset your character:

  1. Login to your RSI account on the website.
  2. Report the issue and any details regarding what you were doing when it happened on the Issue Council.
  3. Attempt the workaround listed above.
  4. Head to this article to review what you will need to do:  Character Reset

SHIP CLAIMS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING

There has been a large number of reports that ship insurance claims are not functioning in certain instances.  We are looking for more information to track the root cause and discover any possible work arounds while our teams look into a more permanent solution.

TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND HELP US TRACK DOWN THE UNDERLYING CAUSE:

  1. Head to the RSI website.
  2. Login to your RSI account.
  3. Report what happened and the steps to reproduce it on the Issue Council using this link: STARC-11614
  4. Attempt to spawn a different ship.

If all of your ships have entered a state where they have become unusable, you may need to do a Character Reset.  Head to this article to review what that process entails:  Character Reset

HANGAR MODULE NOT AVAILABLE

As of Star Citizen Alpha patch 3.13.1a, the Hangar Module is currently disabled while we examine needed fixes for issues with the module.

There is currently no time frame for when it will return.  Check the patch notes on Spectrum for updates on when it has returned.

ERROR 15008/16008

This error appears when there is a service outage or when there is trouble connecting to the login service.  It is fairly common and generally will be fixed with time.

We have a more in-depth article to address this error here: Error Code 15007/16007/16008

ERROR 30000

This error will typically appear alongside a server disconnect along with a message about a “bad token”.  To correct this, completely close out of both the game and then restart from the RSI Launcher.

SELECT SYSTEM MENU IS EMPTY

In rare cases the option to select a system to begin playing is totally missing from the game’s main menu screen for entering the Persistent Universe.  Should this occur, completely close both the game and the RSI Launcher and wait a few minutes before restarting the application.  Ensure the tasks are completely ended in the Windows Task Manager as well.

Should the restart not work, a few players have reported that totally restarting their computer has helped.

If you encounter this, please consider adding your report to the Issue Council so we can work towards sorting out the root cause of the troubles.

LOGIN TROUBLES AFTER A SHIP BED LOGOUT

The symptoms of this issue may appear in two different ways:

  • A loading screen that never completes.
  • An error message pop-up (Error 20018) after a long loading time.

There are a few possible ways to correct this:

  • Enter Arena Commander or Multiplayer Free Flight using the ship that you previously logged out in, then after playing in that mode for a bit attempt to enter the PU once again.
  • Attempt a Character Reset.  This should only be done as a last resort if all other attempts to correct the troubles.

As a reminder, you will get an error if you attempt to login while the reset is processing and attempting to do so before it completes may cause additional issues.

TRADE TERMINALS DISPLAY INCORRECT INFORMATION

When logging into a terminal at a Trade and Development Division (TDD) locations, the information displayed may be incorrect, which can prevent the sale of commodities.  If this is encountered, try one or both of the following to workaround the issue:

  • Go to another TDD and try a different trade terminal.
  • Fully exit and relogin to the game before trying the terminal again.

MATERIALS NOT SELECTED FOR REFINEMENT ARE LOST

When refining ore that has been gathered, any leftovers that are not put through the refining process are lost.  There is no message alerting players that this will occur.

While it is intended that ore not put through the refining process is removed, it is not intended for there to be no warning about it.  This missing warning message will be implemented in the next patch.

CHARACTER EQUIPMENT LOADOUTS ARE NOT SAVING CHANGES

This is a fail-safe put in place to prevent a character’s mobiGlas from vanishing.  If you are encountering this problem, that means some safety measures we have added are keeping your character in a playable state.  The loss of the mobiGlas will mean that your character cannot function in most parts of the game.

If you encounter this issue, we recommend that you restart your game client.

MOUSE CURSOR IS FLICKERING IN THE MOBIGLAS

The problem prevents some ease of use of the mobiGlas as clicking will sometimes not function.  This is due to a strange interaction from certain types of control peripherals, such as flight sticks.

We are actively looking for additional information and reports on this issue so should you experience it, please consider adding your report and experience, including any additional control peripherals you might be using, to this Issue Council report: STARC-2191

For now, if this occurs some players have reported that repeatedly clicking with the mouse can sometimes bypass the problem.

CONSTELLATIONS WILL DESPAWN AFTER UNDOCKING A SHIP

This issue can occur with all Constellation variants that allow for a ship to dock.  After a player undocks a ship from the Constellation and moves far enough away, the Constellation will despawn.

Until a fix for this can be applied, to prevent this from happening a player will need to stay within 30KM of the Constellation after undocking.

LOADOUT SERVICE ISSUES

We are aware of and actively investigating an issue impacting some loadout services. This may manifest through a range of symptoms such as:

  • Difficulties with proceeding on an insurance claim through the ASOP terminals
  • Difficulties in accessing or saving changes through the Vehicle Loadout Manager or Equipment Manager on your mobiGlas
  • Errors connecting to loadout services through the Character Customizer

Please note that a Character Reset will not resolve this problem. Logging out and closing the launcher entirely before logging back in may temporarily help with some of these symptoms until a fix is implemented.

When you have a moment, consider heading to the Issue Council to add information to any current reports to help us track down the root cause of the problem.
