Star Citizen | Roadmap Roundup – June 08, 2022

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Every two weeks, we accompany the Roadmap update with a brief explanatory note to give you insight into the decision-making that led to any changes. This is part of an effort to make our communications more transparent, more specific, and more insightful for all of you who help to make Star Citizen and Squadron 42 possible.

With that said, let’s go ahead and dive into this week’s Roadmap Roundup!

Notable Changes for June 8, 2022

Release View

After talking at length with the team in Montreal, we have realized it makes much more sense to split the Derelict Reclaimer – Points of Interest card into two distinct cards, due to the development work being significantly different for each. Therefore, the description and title of the original card has been updated, and the following card has been added to Release View:

Derelict Reclaimer Space Missions
A variety of hand-crafted, narratively unique missions that have been created for new Derelict Reclaimer wreck-sites in space. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.17 column and is targeting delivery in Q2 in 3.17.2.

These deliverables have passed their final review for Alpha 3.17.2. Therefore, we are marking these cards as Committed on Release View and changing their color to blue.

  • Additional Stanton Lagrange Points
  • Derelict Reclaimer Settlement – Point of Interest
  • Derelict Reclaimer Space Missions
  • AI – Planetary Navigation
  • Illegal Delivery Missions
  • Siege of Orison

Progress Tracker

With this update, we’re extending the planning horizon of Upstream teams to include Q1 2023, with more teams to be added in a future publish. The following deliverables have been added to Progress Tracker:

Salvage – Vehicle Munching
Implementing the ability to transform large chunks of metal salvaged from ships into a refinable material. This will use the grinder systems aboard salvage ships like the Vulture and Reclaimer. This deliverable has been added to the EU PU Gameplay Feature Team’s schedule.

Freight Elevators
Implementation of systems and content for players to physically load and unload cargo to and from their ships by conveying cargo to and from hangars, landing pads, garages, and docking collars. This deliverable has been added to the US PU Gameplay Feature Team’s schedule.

New Player Experience
An initiative for improving the initial (first 30 minutes) gameplay experience, which will help players understand the context of the world and introduce them to some of Star Citizen’s basic features. This will include updates to landing zones, spaceports, habs, shops, and more. This deliverable has been added to the EU Landing Zone Team’s schedule.

Player/Machine Physical Interaction
Initial implementation of animations that show the player interacting with ship controls and items. Includes pushing buttons, flicking switches, and interacting with other areas of the cockpit. Also includes other machines and items, including locker doors. This deliverable has been added to the Actor Feature Team’s schedule.

Aegis Retaliator Base
Building, implementing, and balancing the base variant of Aegis multi-crew combat ship, the Retaliator, as a game-ready vehicle. This deliverable has been added to the Vehicle Content – EU Team’s schedule.

Anvil Crucible
Building, implementing, and balancing Anvil’s ship repair platform, the Crucible, as a game-ready vehicle. This deliverable has been added to the Vehicle Content – EU Team’s schedule.

Due to additional priority being put on the Salvage work mentioned above, the following deliverable is being removed from Progress Tracker temporarily until it is rescheduled:

  • Room Depressurization

That’s all for this week!
