Alpha Patch VERSION 3.18.0-PTU.8356208 has been released to the PTU, and is now available to test!

It is strongly recommended that players delete their USER and Shader folders for the Public client after patching, particularly if you start encountering any odd character graphical issues or crash on loading. Addition of some quality of life changes for Widescreen monitor players. Keep vertical FOV but scale horizontal FOV if resolution becomes ultra-wide. Updated FOV slider with new values for current resolution. Added new 32:9 Aspect Ratio in FovGlobalSettings which had a too narrow one being calculated resulting in a clipped visor. Completely disabled the behavior that the chat moves down when entering a ship, since it’s not very useful and can even be reset when resolution changes. Inventory overhaul for widescreen with items and scaling no longer being cropped on ultra widescreen resolutions.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Or shall we say, Moon Day? Yes, we’re mad about moons this week as we celebrate the final days of Red Festival 2953! For those who haven’t yet, you can still claim your collectible crowers to adorn your cockpits. Also, if you’re feeling confident that your envelope-collecting exploits will eclipse everyone else’s, you can show them off in the currently ongoing Moons of Fortune contest, and maybe even snag a cool prize!

Racing enthusiasts that are itching to push the pedal to the metal can look forward to two upcoming community-organized events, the Crux Cup and 2953 System 7. Registrations are still open, so don’t forget to head on over to their official sites to sign up and show us your driving skills.

For those in Florida, USA, this weekend, swing by the Tampa BBQ Citizen Expo Party in Clearwater for two days of Star Citizen goodness, starting on Friday, February 3. We hear it’s going to be a smashing good time! If you’re organizing an event or are simply looking for a get-together near you, check out the community-run Bar Citizen site.

Moved ore and contraband kiosks into mines. There is now three in the first chamber of each mining route rather than at the entrance to the hub. This is to reduce ganking at the one chokepoint where players can drop off goods

  • Race Track Progression Reenabled

Re-added Racing Time-Trial reputation progression. This progression starts at the Lorville Outskirts Racetrack and unlocks subsequent racetracks as you gain reputation. Reputation earned increases based on medal bracket.

Today we’re giving you access to the updated version of the RSI Launcher 1.6.2 that contains the following changes:

  • Updated the Electron framework and associated dependencies.

  FIXED:

  • Fixed an issue with Star Citizen Alpha client crash reporting an incorrect OS Version.
  • Fixed an error causing the RSI Launcher to always display the US version of the End User License Agreement.
  • The Issue-Council should now load properly in the RSI Launcher.
  • Various Crash Fixes.

1. Download RSI-Setup-1.6.2.exe
In Lutris:
2. Run RSI-Setup-1.6.2.exe inside Wine prefix → select the set up.exe
3. Install launcher
4. Configure:
– Game option: Executable →Browse and find the Launcher.exe file( usually: “RSI Launcher.exe” not the setup file)
– Game option: Arguments = –no-sandbox
– System options: enable Advanced => Enable CLI mode

IF it is your first Install of the game create manually the 2 folders “Star Citizen” and “LIVE”(Or “PTU”) to have the following path: Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE (or Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\PTU)

Happy Monday, everyone!

Red Festival is fully underway! Celebrate the coming of the Year of the Rooster in 2953 with contests, new paints, and ways to earn tons of aUEC in the ‘verse. Plus, the Nine Tails are back in Crusader space, and the CDF needs your help repelling the Siege of Orison in the return of this dynamic event. For all the details, head over to the Lunar New Year landing page.

This past weekend, the filthiest race in the ‘verse kicked off their fourth annual event, the Daymar Rally: the largest in-game community-organized racing event. This year was the biggest one yet, with over 1,000 people taking part, including racers, security teams, refuelers, and support staff. We’ll know the results of the race soon, but we wanted to shout out everyone at ATMO esports for putting on the event every year, the amazing commentators, all of the participants, and the thousands of you that tuned in to watch the broadcast. 

On the Alpha 3.18 front, our team is laser-focused on getting the PTU open to a wider audience ahead of a live release as quickly as possible. We’ll have more updates very soon!

Now, let’s see what’s going on this week:

Tuesday’s Lore Post is titled Portfolio: Rise of the Red Festival. Originally appearing in Jump Point 10.1, this portfolio is a look at how the discovery of the Davien system helped launch a holiday focused on Earth’s lunisolar cycle into the stars.

On Wednesday, we’ll be reposting last week’s Squadron 42 Monthly Report newsletter as a Comm-Link.

Inside Star Citizen returns this Thursday with the Turbulent Environment folks from our Montreal Studio as we discuss new derelict locations coming to Alpha 3.19, plus a check-in with current progress on the upcoming Lorville landing zone redux, first seen at last year’s CitizenCon 2952.

This Friday brings with it the return of Star Citizen Live with special guests, Live Game Director Todd Papy and Development Director Guillaume Voghel to talk All About Alpha 3.18. Added a workaround to check to see if reinforcements do not leave the ship they will be counted towards the hostiles remaining total even once the ship has left resulting in the mission being incompletable

Known Issues

There is a pretty severe issue in this build where players will more likely than not get an infinite load after any death in the PU. The workaround for this is that you will have to either exit the game and reload after a death when this occurs or use the character repair tool on the PTU website if that doesn’t fix the issue. This bug isn’t quite 100% but it appears to be a vast majority of player deaths when it happens.
With this said, we are releasing this build with the caveat that it might not survive the night and will have to be pulled down if it becomes too severe.

Known Issues

  • Anvil Pisces Some Variants – Vehicles / Interactables – Door panel has no interactable button preventing access to the ship
  • Sabre Raven – VFX – Green flickering light fills the screen when sat in the pilot’s seat during weather VFX (Players will receive a loaner Sabre)
  • Players may have to restart the game after getting kicked to the main menu from a 30k server crash
  • Targeting – A ship’s targeting pip may be missing or disappear for some players; they cannot be targeted when this happens
  • Multivehicle – Ships floating in the hangar when stored with the engines left on then retrieved again
  • Ships / Character Animation – The player character arm will misalign when seated in ships, causing obstruction of HUD and view
  • Vehicle / Spawning – The Khartu-al spawns on the hangar floor sideways
  • Vehicles / Ships – Shields – Weapon fire penetrates shields when ships are moving
  • Vehicles / ShipRefuel – While docked to a Starfarer multiple vehicle types will continuously tilt instead of remaining stationary and snap away from the arm if any movement is attempted
  • Vehicles – The Argo Raft’s elevator controls cannot be interacted with from either deck
  • Crusader Ares – Headlights on Ares are too dim to notice at reasonable range
  • Animation – Weapons – All weapons are held like a pistol whilst moving in EVA
  • Combat AI – UGF Missions are sometimes missing NPC spawns to complete the mission
  • FPS Weapons – Weapon holsters or un-holsters unintentionally
  • Armor / Weapons / Utility items may disappear between sessions
  • Inventory – Weapons – Weapons looted directly equipped from containers/boxes are missing attachments
  • ASOP – Ships on landing pads end up in “unknown state” for location and have to be reclaimed after the ship is stored or streamed out
  • Missions – UGF / Bounty Hunter – Turrets around bunkers respawn very quickly, sometimes almost instantaneously
  • Multiple locations – R&R Stations – Stations are variably offset from the Lagrange point they are housed within

The primary objective with 3.17.5 is to inject the updated Lunar New Year envelope (Year of the Rooster for 2953), alongside a few fun goodies we plan to give out during the celebration kicking off this week.
